WHAT DO WE TEST?
Reedsafe can inspect and test all kinds of electrical appliances and equipment, no matter if it is fitted with a standard 13 amp plug, 2 or 5 amp round pin, heavy duty industrial connector for 110 volt, 230 volt or 415 volt. We carry many adaptors for the majority of common ratings and styles of plug.
WHAT AREAS DO WE COVER?
Reedsafe is based in Sprowston, 2 miles north of Norwich city. We cover all of Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgshire and north Essex too.

SPARES AND REPAIRS
Yes, we repair! If we discover any minor faults whilst performing your testing, we will do our best to repair as we go. We carry stock of 3, 5 and 13 amp fused UK plugs, 2 and 5 amp round pin plugs too.  We always have spare 3, 5 and 13 amp fuses just in case your appliance has been fitted with the wrong rating before our visit. If the flex is damaged, we always have BS approved inline, cable restained connectors and waterproof models too. We can replace damaged flex if safer. As we inspect many commercial kitchens, we hold stock of the most common types of rocker switches for glasswashers, dishwashers, hot cupboard and heated shelves. These switches fit Henry vacuums too!

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
Well that varies! If you are based in or around Norwich our minimum invoice value starts at £50 which includes the first 50 items tested. As we travel further away from Norwich the minimum invoice value increases, but so does the quantity of items we will test for the fee. Fair is fair!

The easiest way to establish cost is to call / email for a quote. Incidentally, we do offer special discounted rates if you only have a few small items that you could drop off with us.
If we do need to perform any repairs that would carry a cost, these will be fully discussed prior to undertaking the work.

WHY TEST ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT?
Lets keep this simple and put it in its most simple terms. It is a legal requirement that electrical appliances and equipment used by employees or the public must be maintained in a safe condition. P.A.T. (or Electrical Equipment Testing E.E.T. as it is becoming known) helps to demonstrate you, as an employer, landlord or "responsible person" are taking steps to ensure safe working practices are in force.

Actually, this is a really interesting job! It's different every day.Could we be working for you next?

FREQUENCY OF TESTING
This really depends on quite a number of factors. Essentially, it usually boils down to risk. A hand tool such as an angle grinder being used in a manufacturing workshop will require more frequent inspections compared with a server PC located in a nice rack cabinet located in a controlled, air conditioned and locked room with minimal access! Of course, other factors include landlords requiring annual inspections, insurance company terms and conditions, trade associations and governing bodies criteria for membership, the list goes on. Age of equipment can also be a factor too.

WHAT DO WE GET?
Whilst performing the testing, all appliances are clearly and neatly labelled as we go. We offer a choice of labels too. Choose from our custom printed, Reedsafe branded green and white or black and white overlaminated heavy duty labels, smaller green and white standard labels or tiny 25mm square non branded green and white pass labels. Unfortunately, fail labels only come in red - but lets hope you won't see many or any of those!
Upon completion of the visit you will receive a computer generated PDF certificate. This will be delivered by email - usually within 24 hours of the visit. A certificate issued by Reedsafe will display our details, your details, list all appliances inspected complete with appliance descriptions, make, model and location. We also list any electrical readings taken - many companies don't. The pass / fail status, date of inspection and a SUGGESTED retest date is offered too. We also supply a copy of the calibration certificate for our test equipment so you can be sure all tests were performed using equipment verified for accuracy by an independant calibration house.
It is probably worth mentioning, we can also check your microwave ovens for safe emission levels during operation too.
HOW DO I PAY

Reedsafe accept all major credit and debit cards. Pay by card and you should receive your certificates the same day as we perform your inspection. We do accept cheque and bank transfers (preferred) but should point out, unless agreed otherwise, certificates are only issued upon receipt of cleared funds. If you are expecting longer than 30 day payment terms, please look elsewhere! We do charge late payment fees and interest for delayed and late payments.
